Even vigorous exercise fails to shed pounds

While exercise has lots of benefits, slimming down is not necessarily one of these benefits. Based on new research, many of those taking up exercising find yourself putting on the weight, with added weight coming Jimpness Beauty from fat, not muscle.

The research was published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.

The logic behind exercising as a means of slimming down is straightforward: the more exercise, the more calories expended. Repeat this recipe over time and weight reduction occurs. In reality however, something happens that prevents individuals from slimming down, regardless of what method they will use.

Scientists haven't much understanding why exercise helps many people but not others to drop off pounds, or getting warning signs of why a particular exercise generates a better response in a few individuals.

The new study, conducted by scientists at Arizona State University in Phoenix recruited 81 healthy but sedentary adult women. All participants were overweight based on their body mass index, but some were significantly heavier than others. No participants exercised regularly around before.

Participants were informed that they would enroll in a fitness study and exercise to improve their endurance. Additionally, scientists asked the women to not change bad eating habits.

Then each woman began a supervised workout program designed to be vigorous but manageable by many people, said Glenn Gaesser, a professor of nutrition and health promotion at Arizona State and senior author from the study. The ladies stepped onto treadmills in the laboratory 3 times per week for 30 minutes at a pace that represented about 80 % of their maximum endurance.

After 12 weeks, all ladies counseled me much more fit from an aerobic perspective than they have been at the start, but many of them were fatter. As many as 70 % of ladies added some fat mass, several gained as much as 10 pounds, which was made of fat, not added muscle.
